Nanostructured materials

Nexeon’s Dr Bill Macklin has co-authored an important paper on nanostructured materials and their use as lithium-ion battery electrodes. His co-authors on the paper were Drs Armstrong, O’Dwyer and Holmes from the Materials Chemistry & Analysis Group and the Applied Nanoscience Group, University College Cork, and the Centre for Research on Adaptive Nanostructures and Nanodevices (CRANN), Trinity College Dublin. The work was supported by Science Foundation Ireland.

The review article highlights a number of significant gains in the development of nanostructured lithium-ion battery architectures (both anode and cathode) as drivers of potential next-generation electrochemical energy storage devices.
